15-Year-Old Girl Kicked Out of Massachusetts Camp over a Kiss Earlier today, the irate parents of a 15-year-old girl sued a summer camp in Massachusetts for expelling their daughter last month after a boy kissed her.

The plaintiff, who understandably has decided to remain anonymous, attended Camp Emerson in Hinsdale, Massachusetts where she developed a relationship with another boy. The girl suffers from some nervous psychological disorders. Instead of a quiet camp romance, however, officials threw her out citing ‘sexually provocative behavior’ and her psychological problems. They even went so far as to have a police officer escort her out without saying goodbye to the other campers and counselors.

Prosecutors point out that male camp counselors even encouraged the boy to kiss the girl and that kissing is nowhere prohibited in the camp handbook. The report does not mention how the camp treated the boy.

The suit, however, reads more like a poorly written teen romance novel than a legal brief. For example, the prosecutors allege, "this summer romance made plaintiff Jane, a child of divorced parents who suffers from anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and treats with a psychiatrist and medications, and who always felt insecure and inferior to her peers, feel confident and beautiful for the very first time in her life." It also describes their relationship as, “the summer romance that most teens yearn for."

Despite the wording of this melodramatic suit, the stakes are actually quite high. The family had spent $6,450 for the four-week camp and has not been refunded. They are seeking $600,000 in damages.
