Selling more than 1,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies gets you more than you might expect. A select group of Girl Scouts received an empowerment message that just might take them beyond the sales of cookies. We are talking about leadership and the motivation to someday have the desire to become the next woman president.
Eighteen-year-old Lauren Galley, who serves as President of Girls Above Society, spoke to this special group of Girl Scouts of the San Jacinto Council in Houston, Texas delivering a motivational message encouraging the empowerment to accomplish big goals with disregard to any obstacles that might come their way. Lauren’s non-profit organization is dedicated to reaching every tween and teen across the U.S. with peer-to-peer mentorship as she promotes the importance of embracing individuality and the focus on ourselves to be the best that we can be. Society and social media dominate this Millennial generation and Lauren is here to delete the pressure young girls face to look perfect and act a certain way. Lauren’s speech not only includes empowerment, but also encourages positive social media skills and the use of T.H.I.N.K., a great solution to deleting bullying for good. Lauren believes young girls should embrace their uniqueness, find their passion and share it with others instead of creating drama and tearing each other down which will in turn create a movement of positive morals and values among this generation. The Girls Scouts of San Jacinto received this message loud and clear while donning a Girls Above Society wristband and autographed signature “Girl Power” card and stickers.
